About Us

The purpose of the Rural Medicine Student Interest Group at Noorda COM is to educate and assist students who would like to explore a career in rural medicine. We have three main goals for our members. First, we want to assist students in exploring aspects of rural medicine to help them decide if it is a good fit for them. Second, we want to prepare students for the residency match to optimize their chances of being accepted into their top program. Third, we want to create confident leaders who are more than prepared for residency. We anticipate having monthly meetings and seminars on various rural medicine topics. We invite students to join us for guest speakers, work-life balance workshops, elective/audition rotation discussions, skill development workshops, service projects, and early exposure to elements associated with rural medicine.

Members Benefits

We are a fairly small group on campus and this gives us the chance to have more individual interactions with faculty and guests. Additionally, as a new school and SIG, we have the opportunity to define the scope of the group and work with the school to provide opportunities that meet the interests of group members.
